How practice works

Every sentence works the same way. You listen. You type what you hear. When the sentence is complete, the next one plays. That is the whole exercise.

What counts as correct?

Only correct letters appear in the box. If you press a wrong key, nothing is typed — the box shakes a little, and you can try again. You never need to delete anything.

You only type letters. Spaces, commas, and periods are added for you. Apostrophes (like in I'm) are added too, but you can also type them yourself.

Some words have more than one accepted spelling. If your version matches the audio, it counts.

What do hints do?

Hints keep you moving. You cannot fail a sentence.

  • After 3 wrong tries, we suggest listening again.
  • After 5 wrong tries on one letter, that letter appears for you.
  • After 3 helped letters in one word, the whole word fills in.

A hint is not cheating. It means this word is hard for your ear today. The word will come back in other sentences.

Is replaying bad?

No. Replay as often as you want. Replaying is your ear doing the work — that is the training. Use the replay button or listen again before you type.

Can I slow the audio down?

Yes. You can play sentences at 0.5×, 0.75×, 1×, 1.25×, or 1.5× speed. Slower is fine while a voice is new to you. Real speed is the goal, not the starting point.
